travel insurance deals
The single largest investment most people make in any given year is a vacation. Excluding buying a new care or home, a family vacation easily can cost as much as a single month’s wages for most families. As a result you should take care to find travel insurance deals by getting travel insurance quotes from various travel insurance companies you trust. There are a number of companies in the United Kingdom that offer travel insurance reviews including a travel insurance comparison between their own policies.
Some of these companies are Atlas travel insurance, AXA travel insurance, Columbus travel insurance and Boots travel insurance. Your best bet to find travel insurance deals is to go to an insurance comparison site or aggregator that searches through their affiliated companies for the best coverage and options for your trip. Some of the comparison sites I have reviewed are Squaremouth.com, InsureMyTrip.com , QuoteWright.com and Ready2Travel.com powered by TravelGuard.
At Ready2Travel.com your first step is to enter your zip code as it is designed for United States travelers. This site is much more cumbersome than the Columbus Direct site for citizens of the United Kingdom. You have to know the individual trip cost for each traveler and all of the birth dates as well to get to the next step. The total cost for our family of five to go to the Netherlands from September 24, 2009 until October 6, 2009 is just under one hundred forty five ($145) dollars and has the following coverage limits. Trip cancellation and interruption is covered with a maximum of one hundred thousand dollars per person up to the actual trip cost listed. You also get a trip delay benefit of one hundred ($100) dollars per day and a five hundred ($500) dollar maximum benefit kicking in after the first twelve hours of delay. Baggage loss is covered up to five hundred ($500) dollars per person and if baggage is delayed you can get one hundred ($100) dollars per person for your inconvenience. Medical expenses are covered to ten thousand ($10,000) dollars and emergency medical expenses have a one hundred thousand ($100,000) dollar limit. There are a number of optional upgrades you can add but the policy will no longer be a travel insurance deal.
BootsnAll Travel Insurance offers a medical travel insurance comparison on their site. They compare World Nomads, International Medical Group for both United States and International Citizens, and Travelex. You can see what each company offers side by side with all the various coverage limits. The only problem I can see is that you have to click on each company to get a price on their policy. Good sites offer the ability to choose a number of price quotes and then see their coverage limits side by side.
QuoteWright.com has you input the travelers ages and trip cost per person to get some quotes. Their cheapest price for the same trip we used for the Ready2Travel site was one hundred twenty eight ($128) dollars for a policy from Travelex. In contrast the Premier Package from TravelSafe was eight hundred forty six ($846) dollars for top of the line coverage with no deductible. Get travel insurance deals by using comparison sites to make your best choice.
AXA travel insurance
You can compare holiday insurance policies at the AXA travel insurance website. Also you can request a travel insurance quotes and find travel insurance deals at the website. AXA travel insurance can be purchased online from their website www.axa.co.uk/travelinsurance. There is a note on their website announcing their new partnership with Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fare airline as their exclusive travel insurance company replacing Mondial effective August 6, 2009. Current Mondial policy holders are still covered through the end of their policy dates.
On the front page of the AXA website for travel insurance it boldly states a twenty percent (20%) discount for all policies purchased online. I have used United States dollars in previous reviews but AXA prices will be quoted in pounds. For comparison purposes I will use the same criteria I have used in other comparisons for the sample trip to see the pricing we get on the travel insurance quotes from AXA travel insurance. For a true travel insurance comparison you will need to check other companies like Columbus travel insurance, Tesco travel insurance, Boots travel insurance and Post Office travel insurance.
I made an attempt to input the travel information and found that I was unable to do so as I am not a resident or citizen of the UK. While trying to get a quote as a British Citizen I found that a postal code was required to get a quote. I can give you the maximums for coverage in several areas from the AXA website. You can purchase up to three thousand (3000) pounds of trip cancellation or curtailment insurance per person. Medical expenses can be covered for up to a five million (5,000,000) pound maximum per person (this coverage pays for emergency medical treatment, transport and lodging for a relative or friend to come to you from the United Kingdom if necessary. Baggage is covered up to fifteen hundred (1500) pounds per person if your baggage is lost or stolen. Personal liability has a two million (2,000,000) pound maximum per person and you also get twenty five thousand pounds (25,000) per person of legal expense coverage with a maximum of fifty thousand (50,000) pounds for two or more covered persons.
You also get delayed departure and missed departure coverage, loss of passport and travel document coverage, personal money loss coverage, hospital benefits of thirty (30) pounds per day up to five hundred (500) pounds maximum for incidentals while in the hospital like phone calls and taxi rides to visit your hospitalized travel companion. You also get twenty five thousand (25,000) pounds in personal accident insurance that pays out in the event of loss of limbs, eye or eyes, permanent total disablement or accidental death. In addition to the standard coverage you can get winter sports coverage, cruise coverage, wedding coverage (rings to 300 pounds, gifts to 750 pounds per couple and wedding attire to 1000 pounds per person) and business travel coverage.
